City of Clarksburg – Winter Weather Advisory Statement
Due to the potential for severe winter weather and hazardous travel conditions forecasted for this weekend, the City of Clarksburg is urging residents to prepare now and use extra caution if and when the storm impacts our area. We strongly encourage everyone to limit unnecessary travel during periods of heavy snow and poor visibility, and to monitor trusted weather updates throughout the weekend.
To help keep you and your family safe, the City of Clarksburg recommends the following winter storm safety tips:
- Avoid unnecessary travel and stay off roads when conditions worsen, especially during peak snowfall.
- Allow extra time if you must travel, and drive slowly with increased following distance.
- Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle (blanket, flashlight, phone charger, water, snacks, and basic first aid supplies).
- Prepare your home by stocking up on essential groceries, medications, batteries, and other needed supplies.
- Charge phones and devices ahead of time and have flashlights ready in case of power outages.
- Check on elderly neighbors and loved ones who may need assistance during the storm.
- Dress in layers and limit time outdoors during extreme cold and wind chills.
- Use space heaters safely—keep them away from flammable materials and never leave them unattended.
City crews will be monitoring conditions and responding as needed. Residents are encouraged to stay informed, plan ahead, and prioritize safety.
