Boards and Commission Vacancies

The City of Clarksburg Needs YOU!

The City of Clarksburg is currently seeking dedicated community members to serve on various boards and commissions. These positions provide an opportunity to help shape local policy, support civic initiatives, and contribute to the growth and well-being of our community. Interested residents are encouraged to review available vacancies and submit an application for consideration.

Clarksburg Business Advisory Committee

Total Membership: The Committee shall consist of ten (10) to twelve (12) members composed of:

  • One (1) ex officio CVB representative
  • One (1) Chamber of Commerce representative as voting member
  • Six (6) to eight (8) public members

The City of Clarksburg recognizes that a strong, stable, and growing business community is fundamental to the City’s economic health, fiscal sustainability, and long-term vitality. Businesses of all sizes—ranging from small, locally owned enterprises to larger commercial and industrial employers—serve as primary drivers of job creation, workforce participation, and tax revenue generation. The success of the local business environment directly affects the City’s ability to fund essential public services, maintain and improve infrastructure, invest in revitalization efforts, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents. A thriving business community also contributes to the activation of commercial corridors, the reduction of vacancy and blight, and the creation of vibrant, economically productive neighborhoods.

As Clarksburg continues to advance redevelopment, downtown revitalization, and strategic economic growth initiatives, the City acknowledges that effective economic development requires consistent, structured engagement with the business community. Business owners and employers are directly impacted by municipal policies related to permitting, licensing, fees, zoning, code enforcement, infrastructure, and regulatory processes. Without a formal mechanism for ongoing dialogue, opportunities for collaboration may be missed, and challenges affecting business sustainability may go unaddressed.

The primary goals of the Business Advisory Committee are business retention and business development within the City of Clarksburg. Business retention is a critical economic development strategy, as existing businesses already contribute to the local tax base, employ residents, and have established relationships within the community.
