The Patrol Division currently consists of three eight-hour shifts. Police Officers are the first to respond to a wide variety of calls for law enforcement assistance. They respond to citizen calls for service and also take proactive steps to prevent crime and capture lawbreakers. They conduct the initial investigation of crimes, write reports, investigate traffic crashes and issue citations. They try to prevent crimes through patrolling in their cars and on foot, creating a visible law enforcement presence. Patrol Officers receive specialized training to enhance their services in a variety of scenarios.
Clarksburg Police Department’s Patrol Division is made up of three shifts. Each shift is supervised by a Shift Commander (Lieutenant) and Assistant Shift Commander (Sergeant). The officers work eight-hour shifts: Day Shift 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Afternoon Shift 4:00 PM – 12:00 PM, and Night Shift 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM.
Clarksburg’s Patrol Division includes some of the most highly trained, well qualified and self-motivated men and women in the law enforcement profession. Patrols handle a variety of calls, usually random and varying from violent crimes to parking complaints. The division responds to several thousand emergency 911 calls per year.
