Outreach Department

Outreach Liason

This is a brand-new, first-of-its-kind outreach program within the City of Clarksburg, embedded directly in the Clarksburg Police Department. Outreach Liaison Devan McCord is employed full time by the City of Clarksburg and fully designated to work alongside CPD officers.

In this role, she responds directly with law enforcement, engage individuals in crisis, and help bridge the gap between policing, treatment, and community-based support services. She also provides ongoing case management, advocacy, and follow-up support to address barriers that arise during treatment, with the goal of increasing engagement, treatment completion, and long-term stability.

Working alongside her are Jamie Brown (Peer Recovery Support Specialist) and Nathan Crites (Peer Recovery Coach) from First Choice Services who partner closely with the Clarksburg Police Department. Jamie and Nathan bring invaluable lived experience, having personally survived active addiction, homelessness, and incarceration.

Today, they are living proof that recovery is possible, and their presence allows for authentic connection with individuals who may otherwise distrust systems or services. Together, they interact with people on the streets, during crisis responses, and following law enforcement encounters, focusing on building trust through consistency, compassion, patience, accountability, and genuine human connection.

This work is not just a job for our team—it is deeply personal, rooted in lived experience, and driven by a shared commitment to treating every person with dignity, respect, and the belief that change is possible.
